Zrinski Mine Q&A

Are we going to visit a mine? In Zagreb?

You’re kidding me!

Or not? Are you serious? A real mine?

“Where is Zrinski mine?”

“When was the mine open?”

“Who were the owners of the mine?” - asked Marta andMislav.

“What ore was found at the Miner's Garden?”

“In what year did the mine become available to visitors?”

“When was the mine registered as the protected cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia?” - wondered Carla and Andrea.

And they found some answers on the official site of Park prirode Medvednica (http://www.pp-medvednica.hr

and http://www.jutarnji.hr/dobrahrana/price/vodic-planinarski-domovi-na-sljemenu/3580970/):

Mislav:

To get to Graficar on foot you need to cross two very steep slopes. But the effort is worth it :)

The Mine was open in the 16th century.

Carla:

1. The lead-zinc ore which contains silver, was found at the Miners Garden.

2. In 2004 the staff of the Nature Park Medvednica made the mine available to visitors.

3. The Zrinski Mine was registered as the protected cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia in 2006.

As well as a few tips by fellow students:

What foods and beverages should I bring?

1. Water (A lot of water) or some organic juices however you shouldn't drink soda drinks under any circumstance.

2. You should bring something sweet so that it provides you with the needed suggar in case of a suggar drop in your blood (if your blood sugar level drops, i.e. if you suffer from hypoglycaemia)

3. You should bring something nutritious like pistachio beans to have it as a healthy and energetic snack,

How do we get there?

“We’ll go to the Graficar lodge and we follow the signs," was Lea’s advice.
