PLOGGING

It's a new fitness training trend that originates from Scandinavian countries. It involves picking up trash while jogging. It comes from a swedish „pocka upp“ which translates to picking up.

The trend started in 2016. and it spread to US and Europe through Instagram. Later on it even reached some people in Australia and China. The plogging became more popular in 2018. when people realised how easy and useful it can be to pick up trash while jogging.

Half-hour of plogging burns around 280 calories for the average person while just jogging burns around 230 calories.

Plogging reduces clean up costs, for example, USA spends around 11 billion dollars a year in order to keep their cities clean but according to some researches plogging reduced those costs to 9 billion dollars a year.

Plogging encourages people to jog so the total obesity percentage during 2018. has drastically dropped.

However, if you live in urban areas like New York or LA, you are going to come across trash on your every step of the way.

In that regard, plogging is almost impossible, but if you do live in sub-urban areas, plogging proves to be a benefit for your own health and the environment.
